Sebastious: I disagree: the Governing Body is NOT bold, they're reclusive; shadowy figures who never appear before an audience wider than uncritical JWs. I recall times when Knorr, Henschel, and other senior officials granted interviews with the press, usually in connection with assemblies.

Since millions now living will sometime retire.....
by YoursChelbie inif you bought into the lie that "millions now living will never die," has the.
realization that you will very likely reach retirement age, settled in your mind just yet?.
for instance, i never looked to see if there was a 401k plan when i was in the jw cult.

Room 215
My impression is that, as time passed and cast doubt on the validity of the WTs chronology, watered-down "generation" rhetoric, etc, more JWs switched gears and began to buy into retirement programs, albeit belatedly for many of them..

Rumor has it that they will dredge up and stitch together a series of 1979-1980 WT articles on Jeremiah, reformat it, etc. put it between two floppy covers in garish color and sell it as spiritual insight. It's clear they have nobody that can match Fred Franz's creative genius whenit comes to material of this sort. All they're reduced to these days is "The wonders of creation" and mind-numbing drivel on behavior modification.

RANDY WATTER'S DAD JUST DIED
by Mary inrandy watters, owner of freeminds.org father just died a couple of hours ago from pneumonia and alzheimers.
he was 86 years old.
as randy has been tireless in his efforts to help countless people come out of the wts, i would like to express my sincere condolences to him at this time.. .

My heartfelt condolences to you and yours, Randy. I know it's scant consolation when a well-meaning friend cites your dad's relativley long life (86); we would feel grief and a numbing sense of loss even at 1866, or whatever. Keep up your fine work

who had a child molester in their congregation ?
by looloo ini have done this thread a long time ago , but a few newbies have joined recently and may have had some experiances to share , there was 2 in the congregation i was involved with (i was a "study" ) one was from bethel in america and got deported after his prison sentence and the other was reprooved for abuse then carried on abusing in the congregation , years later he abused my daughter and after i found out i reported him to the police , but he had got off "scot free" for 20 years untill i reported him .
i believe the one from bethel was reported to the police simply because elders kids were affected ..

Suppose a worldly person knows too much about the WTS
by dgp insuppose a practicing and, to all appearances, true jw knew a worldly person (me) knows a lot more about the wts than the typical jw would expect.
i mean, the person knows the wts's structure, the general information about the basic theories (chronology, other sheep, the flocks, the anointed...).
i believe that this jw would immediately suspect that the worldly has visited "apostate" sites.

JWs have to count on the householder's ignorance of the Bible and/or JW history in order to make any headway with them; if a "wordly" non-JW person for whatever reason knows anything about the history of JWs, the dubbie at the door is about to be "blindsided"

The new songs sang at the Memorial
by undercover ingot a new song book at the memorial last night.
was kinda excited about the new songs...at least at first...especially when i realized that the songs that i was going to have to stand through were only two stanzas/verses/thingies/whatever long instead of 4.... that is...until they started playing and singing them.. wow...were they terrible.
i'm not a musician but i know a well crafted song when i hear one...and i didn't hear any last night...until i got back in my car anyway.. god did those songs suck.

The earlier melodies to these two songs were far batter; "change for change's sake" when they have nothing new or insightful to offer.

Memorial 2010 Your Experiences
by scotinsw injust got back from memorial.
only went so that i could say to my parents that i had gone and to remind myself why i left.. oh my word!!!
it was sooooo painful.. got there a bit late - it was a couple of minutes into the talk.
-
Room 215
The two songs were hideous; the speaker, a Bethelite, managed to give an entire Memorial talk without one use of the word "resurrection."
